My Philosophy of Education
After I finished middle school my parents could not afford my education. Now that I am older and have the opportunity to continue studying, I appreciate the value of education. That is why I think that as a teacher you want the best for your students. Somehow students become like our adoptive children. I believe that, all students have the capacity to learn and experience a proper education to succeed in life and school.
Being a teacher is not an easy job as many people think. Educators need to be dedicated and have passion for what they do. Many teachers are born with the gift of loving and teaching children. Many of us discovered the calling of helping others through life experiences. My decision to become a teacher is due in part, in my desire to make a positive impact on the life of children and my love for them.
United States is the melting pot of the world and as an educator I need to adapt to all the different cultures. I need to understand the differences between them. I am going to respect, embrace and appreciate those differences. That is one of the ways that as an educator I could help children to have success in their lives. I believe diversity should be celebrated.
My philosophical perspective of education does not fall in a single category. Instead I believe that it is a combination of techniques. I truly believe in hands-on-activities because at the same time the teacher follows the curriculum with a variety of activities they are engaging the student’s learning process. I as a teacher will encourage personal responses and develop self-awareness in my students.
Students do not come from a mold they are all different and have different needs. Teachers need to realize that not all students learn at the same rate or level as the other students. I strongly believe in group activities because when students are involve in social activities, they can learn from each other. The sharing of ideas can give the students and the teacher a new perspective about something. Even though, some students will feel comfortable exploring new perspectives and fulfill their full potential, some might feel even more comfortable working by themselves because in this way they can expand and act on their own ideas.
To conclude, my goal as a teacher is to inspire passion for learning within my students. I would like to encourage them to do their best in everything they do. I really believe that all students have the capacity to learn and experience proper education. I hope to provide my students the necessary tools to succeed in life.
